Meet Dr. Kim Do

Dr. Kim Do is a meticulous and empathetic provider who strives to provide her patients with the highest quality care while ensuring their comfort. She is grateful to be in a profession that is so impactful on patient’s everyday lives; teeth are worth saving as they are necessary for mastication and speech and can affect an individual’s self confidence. Additionally, she is able to relieve patients who are in pain!

Dr. Do grew up in California and received her bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Irvine where she received a swimming scholarship and was selected to be Captain of the Women’s Division I Swim Team.

She continued her education at the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry at the University of Southern California. As a Special Patients selective, she provided dental treatment to special needs patients who were medically compromised or with disabilities. While earning her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree, she also competed at the USA Triathlon Collegiate National Championships and was the top female to represent the USC Triathlon Club.

After receiving her DDS, Dr. Do served as a dentist in the U.S. Navy and was selected to lead marines and sailors in the PACANGEL total force health service outreach mission to the Philippines. During her time as a general dentist, she grew particularly passionate about the ability of endodontics to save teeth. This led her to the Naval Post Graduate Dental School where she earned her certificate in endodontics and a Master of Science in Oral Biology.  She spent her final years of service at Great Lakes, IL, where in addition to providing endodontic care to her patients she also mentored AEGD residents in endodontics.

As a board-certified endodontist, she has demonstrated exceptional skill and commitment to the profession to reach the highest level of education in endodontics. She continues to increase her knowledge by taking continuing education courses and maintains active memberships in the American Association of Endodontists, the American Dental Association, Connecticut Association of Endodontists, New Haven Dental Association, and Shoreline Dental Society.

After a decade of serving in the Navy, Dr. Do was ready to settle down with her family. While selecting an endodontic practice, she wanted to practice where she would like to be a patient herself. That is why she chose Advanced Endodontics of New Haven, as it specializes in quality gentle care.

Dr. Do and her husband, Dr. John Wachen (originally from Connecticut) have two children, a sprightly daughter and a sweet son. When not caring for her patients, she enjoys spending time with family, baking, and enjoying time outdoors.
