Meet Dr. Gita Safaian

Dr. Safaian, hailing from a lineage of dentists, has been actively practicing dentistry in Connecticut since 1999, specializing in endodontics since 2004. For a decade, she served as the proprietor and sole owner of Hamburg Cove Endodontics in Lyme, Connecticut.

Dr. Safaian holds a distinguished academic background, having graduated from the prestigious University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine. She holds a postgraduate certificate in Endodontics and a Master’s in Dental Science from the University of Connecticut Graduate School. Prior to her focus on Endodontics, she underwent a general practice residency at Montefiore Hospital in New York, gaining valuable experience as a general dentist along the shoreline of Connecticut.

Additionally, Dr. Safaian currently serves as a faculty member at Yale’s Dental Residency and is a clinical professor with the Department of Endodontics at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine. In this role, she teaches residents and dental students about the latest advances in root canal techniques. With more than 24 years of clinical experience, along with a solid knowledge of current dental literature, she brings a wealth of knowledge to her teaching and patient care.

Dr. Safaian considers it a privilege to earn the trust of her patients and finds great joy in providing them with exceptional care. Her ethical principles are of utmost importance. Recognizing that patients are individuals with unique needs, she believes in taking a comprehensive approach to their well-being, ensuring that their overall health is prioritized alongside their dental concerns. Dr. Safaian practices only scientifically proven and tested modern endodontic techniques, staying at the forefront of advancements in the field.

She holds a guiding philosophy centered on treating patients with the same level of care and respect that she would expect for herself – prioritizing their comfort, well-being, and long-term dental health.

Dr. Safaian lives in Old Lyme, CT along with her husband, Dr. Kardestuncer and their two college-aged children and Ila, their German shorthaired pointer. She is an avid runner and loves cooking and traveling.

Dr. Safaian has been honored as one of Connecticut Magazine's "Best Dentists" 2023.
